Today I woke up to the horrible realization that what I witnessed
yesterday was reality. I also slept about eighteen hours. I think I'm in
shock because I took that news quite well. I got up early and checked
out the old TV. The image was horrible, but the thing worked. I didn't
bother paying attention to it, though, as there were only three
channels.
I decided to leave and explore the "village." I ran into a couple of
people in the area right outside my farm. I talked to them but they
would only say a single sentence, no matter how many times I prompted
them for conversation. Kinda creepy, but I'm the new guy, right? I
headed through the rest of the place, which took a while due to how
oddly set up the roads are, and met a few other people. I visited a few
of the shops, but most were closed. At around noon I finally got around
to the Item Shop and Florist.
The item shop was useless to me and the guy that owned it creeped me
out, so I left there fast. The florist was kinda cute, but she kept her
eyes closed the whole time. I wondered if she were blind, but didn't
want to ask. Though she probably wouldn't have told me anyways, as she
would only say the same line every time. I bought some corn seeds just
to have an excuse to leave.
I went immediately back to my Grandfathers farm and realized it was only
noon and I needed something to do. I decided to go ahead and try
planting the corn, but honestly didn't know much of what to do. I
grabbed the hoe from the house and got to work and made a checkered
pattern hoping it would work out. I planted the corn (I could only
afford three seeds... thanks grandpa...) and some potato seeds that were
left in the house. After that, I watered them all.
It was about this time that I came to the eerie realization that I had
used up about half of my energy reserves. It was eerie because I somehow
knew that I had exerted half of my total energy. As in, if I were to
continue going, I knew exactly when I would pass out. It's kinda odd.
Come to think of it, as I sit here in bed watching Daredevil on Netflix
on my phone (thankfully I have a signal here), I realize that I'm not
hungry. I haven't been hungry since I talked to those Harvest Sprites. I
wonder why.
