Harvest Moon - Hero of Leaf Valley (PSP) - Spring 3, Year 1

Things just get weirder and weirder. Today, as soon as I woke up and left the house, three more weirdos came out of no where. I'm not sure what was up. Two were wearing suits - some guy that's never met a comb and another short fat guy that was bold and worse sun glasses. The third was some chick who was wearing a belly dancer outfit for some reason. She seemed kinda cute and nice until she opened her mouth. "What a dump!" is exactly what I thought of your personality, lady.

Anyways, turns out the chick was the CEO of the Funland company, the people that want to turn the island into an amusement park. As soon as she started acting like a bitch, I no longer felt like this place would be better as an amusement park. What kind of social-stunted idiot thinks it's alright to walk up to someone and tell them they "need to get your things together and get out of here." Even if they apparently "own the deed" of this farm and every other farm (How did they pull that off? Perhaps the weird people in this town realized how much of a crappy place it is and sold out.)

They offered to sell me the deed for something like $50,000 and then proceeded to call me a peasant. Also, apparently she keeps her office at the North side of town. My guess, based on how shoddy the trio was, is that this is some rich guys daughter trying to prove herself or something by starting up her own amusement park company. Why bother choosing some remote island? Why not buy an old amusement park and fix it up in a better location? What the hell is going on here?

After the trio-of-fail left, I went ahead and watered the crop. Or that's what I did when the three Sprites left. Yeah, apparently I'm the only one that can see them because the CEO and dumb and dumber didn't seem to react to them at all. Come to think of it, they didn't even flinch when I turned and talked to the three little weirdos. I wish I understand what was going on.

I have to admit that seeing the potatoes already sprouting felt good. I mean, I didn't do much work but it felt really satisfying. Almost like I was compelled to grow. I wonder how much I'll get when they're done growing? I'm still not hungry, so I doubt I'll need them for food. Are potatoes supposed to grow that fast?

After I was done watering, I didn't get much else done. I decided to visit the ranch on the other side of the island to see what was up. Apparently they sell animals. Apparently they'll sell me chickens, cows, or a single horse. Not sure why it's only one horse, though. Either way, buying those potato seeds yesterday took all my money so I couldn't afford anything.

I wondered around for a bit, trying to figure out where the ranch kept their animals. At around noon, though, I decided I would head over and look at the villa near the center of town. Along the way I ran into the shorty with sunglasses, who was surprisingly nice without his friend or boss around. Outside of the villa, some guy in a bug catchers outside asked me about eating breakfast. I ignored him.

Next to the front door was a notice, apparently the villa was looking for a part-time chef. Starting at $250, at 10AM until sometime in the afternoon. I went inside and talked to "Martha" in the kitchen, but she didn't even acknowledge that I was asking about the job. I guess because it was almost 1PM? I dunno. I explored around the rest of the Villa but didn't find anything interesting. Sure, there was another cute girl (what's up with this village and young, cute, and single girls?), but we didn't have much of a conversation.

After the Villa, I headed to the Carpentry shop. The Master Carpenter was an old guy named Woody and he had two apprentices, it seemed like. I'm actually surprised at the size of their operation. I was imagining a single guy working in a tiny one-room workshop. But woody had a two-story house, a large side-edition to said house, and a separate building for his workshop. I think I kinda latched onto that place as an anchor into reality. Everything else in this crazy village seems like an odd caricature of reality.

Behind Woody's place was a gravel path that lead further up the mountain at the back of the village. Along the way, I ran into Parsley. I almost cried when I spoke to him, because he actually had something varied to say. No more of the one-line conversations, I hope. Maybe what happened on the second day was just some kind of hazing ritual the village has?

I continued up the path and stumbled upon the mine. This place also had a notice about part-time work. It paid more than the chef job at the villa, but started at 9AM. Because it was nearly 2PM, I didn't even bother going inside.Right outside the mine was really modern building - security cameras and all - which was a really odd contrast with the rest of the place. I set up my phone on a timer and took a selfie with the building. Ignore the odd border, I couldn't figure out what I was doing and accidentally added it to the picture.

Deciding I should continue my exploring, I went further up the mountain to the area called "The Goddess Spring" and was ambushed by the Sprites again. They taught (forced) me how to summon the Harvest Goddess. I think I may have been inducted into some sort of cult. The Goddess appeared after I tossed an apple in the water and proceeded to flirt with me. Apparently she liked flowers and nuts (ha!). She doesn't like weed, though. Needless to say, I GTFO fast.

Further along the trail, I came across the local lake. Unfortunately, I also ran into the local Tanuki (Raccoon). He was wearing some kind of weird hat and a cape. Apparently he can't be seen by most people (I wonder why I'm the only one that can see all these weird things. Am I insane?). Ponta (the Tanuki) seemed nice enough though. At least he didn't demand I save his village or something. I left decided that I liked Ponta and made my way to the Cafe. Oh, there was some old building that looked like a church or something, but it was locked.

By time I got to the cafe, it was almost 7PM. I figured that the Cafe would be owned by a cute girl, as there seems to be a pattern of that in this village. However, it was oddly reassuring to find that it was actually owned by some old guy. His menu seemed nice, but I had no money to get anything. Thankfully, I still wasn't hungry. At around 8PM I decided I should head to bed and went home. I finished Episode 3 of Daredevil before falling asleep.
